For the past nine years we have participated as presenters at the Young Leaders Fellowship 10-day training conference with MCW Global.

For more than nine years we have collaborated with Communities for Healing and Justice on their “Coming Home” program for people returning from incarceration.

April 2019: Citylights Community,NYC, NY. Commemorative Service to Honor the Victims of the Rwandan Genocide. Marie Ukeye was invited to tell her story and engage in a conversation with the congregation.

December 2018: Guns Down America,NYC, NY. We were invited to speak at a gala honoring Moms who have lost children to gun violence. Guns Down is an organization whose mission is to reduce the cycle of gun-related crime through education and economic empowerment. They teach alternatives to conflict and teach at-risk youth constructive skill sets….

October 2018: Reformed Church of Bronxville, Bronxville, NY, “Coming Home” program. What Better Looks Like led the opening workshop for this 26 week program for women who have been recently incarcerated.

May 2018: Hewlett High School, Hewlett, NY, “What BETTER Looks Like.” We facilitated a workshop with the student leaders of Hewlett High School. They created visual representations of their visions for creating a more Beloved Community.

May 2018: PSEG, South Plainfield NJ. “Relevant Conversations.” What Better Looks Like participated in a panel discussion with Risco Mention-Lewis, Deputy Police Commissioner in the Suffolk County Police Department and Ryan Haygood, civil rights lawyer and President of the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice. May 2018: Five Towns JCC, Cedarhurst, NY, “Community Day.” We facilitated a workshop with the high school student leaders to create visual representations of their visions for creating a more Beloved Community. The students then helped facilitate the same workshop with students from age 5-9.

November 2017: South Fork Geriatrics Network,Southampton, NY. “Staff Development Workshop.” The workshop provides tools to lift spirits of people who work tirelessly to provide the best care for seniors and find ways to work together in beloved community.

October 2017: Reformed Church of Bronxville, Bronxville, NY, “Coming Home” program. What Better Looks Like participated in this 26 week program by leading the opening workshop. This program helps women who have been recently incarcerated make the adjustment back to the community with the support of weekly dinners/inspirational programs and individual mentors.

October 2017: South Fork Geriatrics Network, Southampton, NY, “Staff Meeting.” Facilitated staff discussion on how we can work together in our daily lives to make better connections and provide the best care for seniors.

July 2017: Miracle Corners of the World, “Young Leaders Program”, at Champlain College, Burlington, VT. For a second straight year What Better Looks Like was invited to present a workshop at the weeklong program involving 40 young student leaders from over 20 countries around the globe.

May 2017: Hastings Women’s Circle, Hastings, NY – Ongoing group support of one another and the work we create together and as individuals.
