What BETTER Looks Like provides experienced, motivating and talented speakers to lead customized presentations for your community group or school. This page contains examples of our programs. The content is adapted for the group’s purpose and intent, as well as its stage – children, adolescents or adults. PROGRAM: CREATING COMPASSIONATE COMMUNITIES:
USING HUMOR AND STORYTELLING TO EXAMINE THE ROLE OF BULLYING IN SCHOOLS AND SOCIETY

Participants look at interrelationship in the contemporary world and acquire tools they can use to build a BETTER community the way they really want to see it.

PROGRAM: 20 GANDHIS

It took one man using only non-violent means, the leader Gandhi, to change the lives of 300,000,000 people living in India under British rule! Let’s do the math to see how many people it would take to change our current world with about 7,400,000,000 people. Participants explore what it might be like to use our individual and collective power to make a BETTER world.

  • Recommended for: Children and young adults ages 12 – 20; schools and community youth groups.
  • Participants: 30 to 300
  • Program length: 2-3 hours

PROGRAM: PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS

At some point, as we pursue our road to happiness, we will reach an intersection where our passion and excellence meet a need in the world, and our life’s work emerges with potential for us to make our greatest impact. We are here to pursue our happiness, not just individually, but as a social imperative.

  • Recommended for: Young adults and adults; schools; community groups.

  • Program length: 2-3 hours

PROGRAM: IMAGINE AND CREATE A BETTER LIFE:
      AN INTERACTIVE PROGRAM FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

This program helps young people imagine a better reality for their future – to enable them to discover their purpose and gifts, and learn they can use their creative abilities to make the changes they envision for themselves and their community. This program focuses on the participant’s recognition and use of his/her cognitive competencies of insightfulness, openness to new categories and new possibilities, and creative problem-solving abilities. It also promotes resilience in young people living with the inevitable adversity, difficulties and trauma, by increasing the participant’s sense of control over his/her life, encouraging positive relationships and relationship skills, and introducing hopefulness and motivation to make positive changes.

  • Recommended for: Children and young adults ages 12 – 20; schools and community youth groups.
  • Participants: 30 to 300
  • Program length: Full program with planning sessions, keynote, small group sessions, and ongoing follow-up activities. The program can also be utilized as a keynote or workshop experience.

PROGRAM: USING ART TO IMAGINE AND CREATE NEW VISIONS

We all want our world to be BETTER, but how do we start? Artistic expression activities for participants provide opportunities to explore how to use their creativity to imagine and create ways to make their lives and the world better.

Through the inspiration of story, directed activities and support of others, participants are motivated to see their own specific talents, abilities and life possibilities in a new, meaningful, and creative light.
